Designing the interior of an apartment for a teenager provided an opportunity to use more playful forms. The living room and the kitchen are connected through a bar counter with a large niche on each side. The goal was to aesthetically join these two spaces while making the niches more useful, and it was achieved with the creation of open shelves. The net-like perforated MDF boards create a continuous kitchen space “façade”. At the same time, they blur that boundary, mediating between the two spaces. The design is further enhanced with Artemide lighting – Pipe sospensione (Herzog & De Meuron, 2002).
